A successful project between ICP_ZHAW and KaleidoSim Technologies AG (December 26th, 2021)
Dario VanOerle, student at ICP_ZHAW , presented his bachelor thesis “Aerodynamic Characterization of Jet Planes and Spaceships”, supervised by Prof. Gernot Boiger, our collaborator at ICP_ZHAW . He has developed a seamless workflow which allows users to fully computationally characterize aerodynamic frames in less than 1h. More specifically hundreds of turbulent flow-simulation were conducted in OpenFOAM in order to derive pairs of drag- and lift- coefficients for as many angles of attack. Our OpenFOAM KaleidoSim platform (app.kaleidosim.com) provided approximately 5000 vCPUh to doing the process within 45 minutes.
